[DAGUERREOTYPE]. [AVEYRON] DECAZEVILLE, Mines and mills in the coal basin circa 1845. Attributed to Charles CHOISELAT & Stanislas RATEL. Full-plate daguerreotype, 15 x 21.7 cm, presented with mat and coaster in 26 x 32 cm format. Attributed to Charles CHOISELAT & Stanislas RATEL. A daguerreotype of a similar invoice by Choiselat & Ratel, Montagne de Justin à Die in the Drôme dated 1845 of the same format (14.9 x 20.7 cm) and the same presentation, with bevelled corners, as the one from Decazeville was sold at Sotheby's on 29/05/2013. Note: Decazeville owes its name to Duke Élie DECAZES (1780-1860), a politician and founder of the factory at the origin of the town.
