Laszlo Ivanyi is a Hungarian artist born in Budapest in 1934.

Trained as a pianist and survivor of the Second World War, he emigrated to Paris in 1956. There, he quickly made friends with the high society of the time, notably the Rothschilds.

His work, whose heart lies in the 60s and 70s, explores notions of desire and dreams. Often explicit but never obscene, his works bear powerful witness to the gay condition in the midst of sexual liberation.

The One Library at the University of South Carolina, which specializes in LGBTQ memory, holds the largest collection of the artist's work in the world, and dedicated an exhibition to him in 2013, entitled "Diaries".
