Rare and important Hochschnitt blown glass GOBELET with rich landscape decoration in reserve among foliage, bearing on one side the motto "Auncun temps ne la change" and on the other an animated landscape in a cartouche. Silesia. 17th-18th century . 13 cm (Slight chip at edge) In 1687, Count Christoph Leopold von Schaffgotsch (1623-1703) granted Friedrich Winter a special privilege to set up a water-powered glass-cutting workshop for which he held the patent. He specialized in "Hochschnitt" decoration, which gave glass the appearance of rock crystal (quartz), much sought-after by connoisseurs of the time. Under the influence of Count Schaffgotsch, Friedrich Winter's workshop created numerous glass works, some of them typically "Barockzeit".
