LITERATURE. Set of 7 letters, most of them... - Lot 34 - Goxe - Belaisch - Hôtel des ventes d'Enghien
LITERATURE. Set of 7 letters, most of them autographed, to various correspondents. Maurice Barrès (l.a.s), Jane Catulle-Mendès, (l.a.s about the choice of a candidate, whose work seems preferable to him for this year), Numa Denis Fustel de Coulanges (l.a.s, informing a dean of the faculty, that in spite of his absence caused by his health, he will commit himself to be an adherent "in advance to all the decisions", that the faculty will take.), Henry de Kistemaeckers (2 l.a.s, one of which with a preserved envelope, to Philippe Gille, about his play "Pierrot amoureux", for which his colleague has dedicated praise and congratulations to him. The second letter addressed to his "dear Master" also concerns tributes concerning his play, "La femme inconnue"), Françoise Mallet-Joris (l.s, about an exhibition she was not able to see), Charles Monselet (curious l.a.s, to Arsène Houssaye, around 1852, concerning the performance of the play "Ulysse", by Ponsard). Three autograph letters signed by Jacques Copeau, (1939/1940) concerning his wish to obtain from the military or governmental authorities a permit to circulate throughout France in order to go from station to station, "without any other purpose than to observe and draw in small strokes a portrait of the country in wartime...". He is surprised by the delay of the publication of his two chronicles, which he sent. Also enclosed the work of Maurice Barrès " La colline Inspirée " [1913], copy printed especially for the author (n° 327) small in-8, spine and spine tired, with a dedication, " to Mme la comtesse de Beauchamp ".
