BLOCH (Jean-Pierre) French politician, he was an active French Resistance fighter during the Second World War, socialist, he was also an ardent militant against racism (1905-1999). Set of 5 letters addressed to him. Among this set, we note 2 letters signed by the director of cabinet of Charles de Gaulle, one, is dated May 16, 1945 (Provisional Government) concerning the impossibility of General de Gaulle, to go to Laon, for the commemoration of the battle of Montcornet. The second one, dated June 9, 1945, is signed by Claude Guy (the General's aide-de-camp), a letter in which he specifies that the General will not be able to preside over the "Garden party" planned by the "Club du 18 Juin" in order to "celebrate the anniversary of his Appeal". A letter signed by the secretary of Princess Ghislaine (Ghislaine Dommanget, actress, wife of Louis II of Monaco in 1946) sends her thanks for the condolences she received following the death of her husband, Prince Louis II, on May 9, 1949. Pierre Bérégovoy, letter signed with some autograph words as Secretary General of the President of the Republic (Charles de Gaulle) date stamped June 23, 1961. _ p. in-folio. Lucien Sampaix, signed letter of August 8, 1939. 1 p. in-4. He addresses to Bloch his thanks shared by those of Marcel Cachin for his support following the lawsuit against the newspaper "l'Humanité". Attached are 2 autograph letters signed by the representative of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in Paris, (June 1962), about the American military intervention which "is currently creating a dangerous explosive situation in South Vietnam", a page of autograph signatures including Pierre Bloch, Herri Queuille, Felix Gouin etc. commemorating "Victory Day in Tunis". Framed (11 x 17 cm, on view). Also enclosed is Jean Jaurès's "La Constituante" (spine very damaged and incomplete with several pages at the end of the volume), with the detached title page presenting Jaurès's dedication to the journalist "Camille Sainte-Croix", missing.
