ARCHIVE Roderic O'CONOR. Irish painter and engraver, Roderic O'Conor (1860-1940), joined many artists of the Pont-Aven School, already frequented by many French and foreign artists. He became friends with Paul Gauguin, Charles Fiiger, Armand Seguin, to name but a few. He married in 1933, Renée Honta, his former model and painter (1894-1955).Roderic O'CONOR - Set of several documents - Autograph letter signed in English to Mr. O'Connell Fitz Simon. Attached to this set are various documents concerning Henriette Marie Renée HONTA, (1894-1955), who was the model and wife of Roderic O'Conor, consisting of several documents relating to the burial of her husband Two autograph minutes of letters, concerning the renting of his villa, as well as two letters concerning the update of his record in order to be able to update his activity of painter for the years 1934, 1935 and 1936 in The Book of the Exhibiting Painters, to be published at the time of the International Exhibition of 1937, one being signed by the director of this periodical Eugene Hoffmann.Two drawings of studies in pencil are attached: head of a woman and a partially naked woman, various documents and photos, a very long letter of reproaches and clarification addressed to her, by one of her former friends or acquaintances (24 pp. in-8). Set of numerous letters including about 50 letters addressed in English to Roderic O'Conor, by his lawyer in Dublin John O'Connor, about various litigations, including the one of 1894/1895 with a certain Flanagan, about various inheritance and real estate affairs, including a bill to be presented to the House of Commons, about the reinstatement of evicted tenants in order to ensure the payment of a part of their lands, etc. There are also over 100 letters in English from O'Conor's agent, businessman and advisor, G. Clarke (1893-1901), often also dealing with real estate matters, annuities, estate sales and rents collected. There is also mention of investment proposals. It should be noted that the lawyer and the consultant are in permanent relation and communication, in order to be able to ensure the best service related to the business of the painter. Several other letters from friends or colleagues, often written in English, some incomplete, are attached to this set.
