BRANCUSI CONSTANTIN (1876-1957). Dance steps of LIZICA CODREANU in the studio of CONSTANTIN BRANCUSI. Set of 2 gelatin-silver negatives on glass plate, circa 1921, size 12 x 9 cm. Two photographic prints from the negatives are attached (circa 1990). Lizica Codreanu (1901-1993) arrived in Paris in the summer of 1919 with her sister Irina Codreanu, who was to become an apprentice sculptor with Brancusi. A familiar face in the studio, Lizica is pictured here doing dance steps in the sculptor's studio at 8 Impasse Ronsin in Paris. Provenance : former collection of Irina Codreanu.
