SARTHE - Castle of la HAUTE FRESNAYE. Built... - Lot 36 - Goxe - Belaisch - Hôtel des ventes d'Enghien
SARTHE - Castle of la HAUTE FRESNAYE. Built in 1842 by the Ozou de Verrie family, this castle located in the commune of Neuvillette en Charnie had its hours of glory from 1917 to 1942. It was occupied by the Bernard-Dutreuil family, whose senator Auguste (1836-1889) was also mayor of Neuvillette. It was destroyed by fire in 1942. In the lineage of this family, we find a Nicolas-Charles Bernard-Dutreuil, born in Loire Atlantique, who was a lawyer at the parliament in 1776. He was ennobled by Louis XVIII (1746-1833). (A photo of the parchment of this ennoblement is attached). A few postcards from the last century give us an image of this elegant building. Precious and unique photo album representing the castle with its outbuildings, allowing to discover several aspects of this property. All these photos are accompanied by captions, where we discover the masters of the place as well as the generations that succeeded each other in this building. The staff is also present with the guards, the farmers of the domain in pose with their families. In the course of this album we will discover the numerous diplomatic and political activities accomplished by the members of this family, intervening in several countries, including Poland, Belarus, Morocco, etc. A charming watercolor dated March 1942, representing the castle of Haute Fresnay, precedes the 594 clearly captioned photos, mounted and preserved in an oblong album, on 100 pages. A non-exhaustive list is given of some of the political and commercial activities represented, dated from 1925 to 1928. 1925. Convoy of Renault Danzig - Warsaw. July 1926. Presentation of a Renault 6-wheeler to the President of the Polish Republic, Ignacy Mo_cicki. Together with the Polish Minister of Trade. May 1926. Reception of the "Goliath" P17 and P18 in Poznan on the Lawica airfield. 1926. Coup d'état in Warsaw with Józef Pi_sudski taking power. 1927/1928. Various activities in Poland. Numerous picturesque and often animated views of the population with commercial activities related to the negotiations and the exploitation of flax in Rynek, Traby, Olszany. (Views of expeditions on sledges, interior of a workshop of the "Tailors in Iwie", scenes of markets etc.). 1928. Various activities in France in Chamonix, excursion by plane link "Berlin-Paris" on "Goliath" from the airport of Toussus-le-Noble, some views of Belgium, 1929. Interesting trip to Morocco with many superb traditional views of the population from many towns and villages. The testimony of the images on El Ksiba, is particularly consequent and reveal invaluable indications on the customs at that time.
