SOISY SOUS MONTMORENCY - The CASTLE. Exceptional... - Lot 37 - Goxe - Belaisch - Hôtel des ventes d'Enghien
SOISY SOUS MONTMORENCY - The CASTLE. Exceptional testimony, dated from 1882 to 1907, copiously captioned. Théodore Davillier, (1799-1868), son of the Empire Baron Jean Davillier who was Governor of the Bank of France in 1836 (acting for Count d'Argout) (1746-1846), was several times Mayor of Soisy sous Montmorency. Theodore's daughter, Laure, married Mathieu Dollfus in 1847, administrator of the Eastern Railway Company (1824-1896). The castle was inhabited by the Dollfus family. Their daughter Madeleine (1855-1926) married in 1874 the baron and banker Jean Frédéric André Poupart de Neuflize (1850-1928), appointed regent of the Bank of France in 1902. Their castle was demolished in 1925 and the property divided up. Precious photo album containing 272 photos, revealing the intimacy and the daily life of the Dollfus family and its descendants, owner of this castle. We discover very interesting testimonies characterized by multiple activities and leisure, including many horseback riding. The son-in-law of Dollfus, Baron de Neuflize was involved in the equestrian world, he won the bronze medal at the 1900 Summer Olympics in four-horse carriage driving, but this competition was not recognized by the International Olympic Committee. He was a member of the Committee of the French Equestrian Society and commissioner and managing director of the French Steeplechase Society. On the cover page, the silver carved coat of arms of this family is fixed, enriching and personalizing this album. Imperfections of use, spine preserved, covers detached, but well preserved.
