Biblical scene from the book of Daniel in which Shadrach, Meshach and Abed Nego, Hebrew dignitaries from the province of Babylon, were thrown into the furnace for refusing to bow down before the golden idol raised by King Nebuchadnezzar II. According to the biblical legend recounted by the prophet Daniel, an angel appeared and came to the rescue of the three unfortunate people who came out unscathed from the fire into which the king had thrown them. This is how King Nebuchadnezzar II recognized the greatness and power of the God of Israel.
