Biography of Roderic O'CONOR (1860-1940)
1860 Roderic O'Conor was born on October 17, 1860 in Milton (Ireland)
1879-1883 Attended the Dublin School of Fine Arts and won the drawing and painting prizes of the Royal Hibernia Academy of Arts in 1882.
1883 Leaves Dublin to study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp with Karel Verlat; there he meets J. Milner Kite.
1884 Received the Taylor Prize from the Royal Dublin Society.
1887 Probable date of his first stay in Pont-Aven where he met Milner Kite again and stayed at the Gloanec boarding house.
1888 Lives in Paris, 4, rue Darcet and exhibits at the Salon a portrait of the Danish painter Paul Vogelius.
1889 Stayed in Grez-sur-Loing, near Nemours and met the American painter Edward Brooks. Exhibited at the official Salon and the Salon des Indépendants.
1891 First meeting with Cuno Amiet in Paris and Armand Seguin in Pont-Aven. Participated in the New English Art Club exhibition in London.
